Got the blu-ray recently and I’m simply in awe. The way Edward Yang is able to explore so many aspects of life with this simple middle-class Taiwanese family is singular. Every major character is filled with so much depth and even supporting ones like Min-Min’s brother offer nuance and depth.
Three hours and not a single moment wasted. Feelings of middle-age anxiety, young love, death, childhood curiosity, and regret yet every theme is treated with the utmost care. This very well might become my favourite movie. Complete masterpiece if there ever was one.
Side note but Mr Ota and Yang-Yang have got to be two of the most wholesome characters ever put to film.
Top Comment: I still remember clearly when I first watched this. It was a Friday evening, and I was all on my own with a couple of beers. I was in awe the whole time, wondering how a film could capture so many emotions. I occasionally think about that night—an experience I'll never forget.
(Spoilers Extended) Yi Ti anime show should be live action. It would be cool to see the sets of ancient China like architecture in game of thrones. Also it would be interesting to see another part of the world. More diversity wouldn’t hurt either.

I say the opposite. I think more of the Game of Thrones universe should be animated actually. Less constrains, we would get something very respectful of George's work and completely faithful to the books.
More freedom because you can do much more with animation obviously. I hope they redo Game of Thrones full anime and following the books word for word.

Famous Yi Sun Shin Quote in Hanja

Hi! As someone interested in Korean history and culture, Admiral Yi Sun Shin has long been one of the historical figures I look up to (at least since 2012!) as a military leader and strategist. May I ask if any of you in the community would know the Hanja of his famous quote, "Those who seek death shall live, those who seek life shall die."
Some say that it's "必生即死、必死即生." But others credit it to the earlier Chinese saying: "必死卽生, 幸生則死." May I know if the former translation is accurate?

Top Comment: The pronunciation is 즉 so you might mistake it for 卽, but in this case it's 則. So 必死則生 必則死
